Genre musik pop daerah memang mempunyai pangsa pasar tersendiri. Meskipun tidak segempita pop mainstream, tapi genre ini terbilang stabil di industri musik Indonesia. Selain para penyanyi yang notabene sudah ngetop yang juga terjun di genre ini, banyak juga mereka-mereka yang mengawali karir di daerah masing-masing. Banyaknya suku bangsa di Indonesia dengan keragaman kesenian daerah masing-masing membuat genre ini tumbuh subur, sehingga hampir di masing-masing daerah juga punya seniman unggulan yang juga berkarya di genre ini. Biasanya setelah punya basis kuat, barulah mereka dilirik major label dan diboyong untuk merilis album secara nasional. Kelompok KAWULA ALIT adalah kelompok musik jalanan asal Solo yang merupakan bentukan dari DIDI KEMPOT. Berpersonel empat orang yaitu DANNY PELO, RIYAN PENTUL, COMET dan HARRI GEMPIL, mereka mengawali karir di Solo dan berhasil menarik perhatian JK RECORDS saat mereka sedang tampil di sebuah pusat jajan lesehan. Merekapun kemudian dikontrak JK dan menghasilkan album MALING TUYUL di akhir tahun 1992. Single andalan MALING TUYUL cukup menarik perhatian pecinta lagu-lagu pop jawa, disusul single berikutnya SENTIR LENGO POTRO yang diciptakan DIDI KEMPOT. Keberhasilan ini membuat mereka merekam album kedua, tapi sayangnya tidak kunjung rilis sampai di tahun 2020 album kedua mereka KEMBAR MAYANG dirilis juga dalam format digital.
